Humour is important and turns the funny bone into an engaged posture.
The images that remain with me...light streaming through fabric...backlighting a child (their feet, their ears - rendering the image translucent).
As baby boomers are buying $300 a pair MBT shoes; I would think that sore feet are a big issue for alot of people. Would a photo of soft, pudgy baby feet draw attention? The shoe people use the photo of a tall African male striding along a foot path. He looks elegant and his walk effortless.
Those are terrific observations. It reminds me of a story a friend told--she is a very humorous and delightful person, but somehow her first ATM class turned very serious. The students all behaved as though in most solemn meditation. She interupted class after a few sessions and said "look, you won't believe it, but my teacher [Stephen Rosenholtz] is a really funny guy. We are cracking up all the time in class. ..." Everyone was relieved to have the permission to shift the feeling in the room!
I love your thoughts about light as well. It gets me thinking about how light can suggest things like discovery, the "dawning of a new aspect."
Light is so important to the eye and is suggestive of change.
